Introduction

Centralized Labware Resource
Wistar's Research Supply Center furnishes a large selection of plasticware for all scientists at the Institute. Plasticware products are displayed in a showroom for pickup by individual laboratories. In addition to the convenience of having a centralized facility, the economy of scale provided by this center allows a considerable savings to be passed along to users.

Centralized Media/Biologics Resource
The Institute's Media/Biologics Center serves all Wistar investigators and provides an inventory of commonly used cell culture reagents, including fetal bovine serum, as well as a wide range of reagents used in molecular biology (restriction enzymes, polymerases, and nick-translation kits). The centralized facility is flexible and responsive to investigator requests; new items are frequently added to the center's inventory. As with the glass and plasticware, the RSC provides biologics at a considerable savings.

Glassware cleaning and sterilization
Upon request by Wistar laboratories, glassware is washed, sterilized and heat-treated. The center has facilities for decontamination, cleaning, drying, and sterilization or heat-treating glassware.
