Cytolytic Lymphocytes (CTL) Against Colorectal Carcinoma (CRC)

Inventors: Dorothee Herlyn, Rajasekharan Somasundaram, and Jacob Lutz

Tech ID: HD-97001

Description: Immunotherapy remains a promising approach to the treatment of cancer. However a number of immunotherapeutic approaches have not lived up to their promise, due, in part, to an insufficient cell-mediated cytotoxic response. Wistar researchers have been investigating approaches to enhancing this cellular cytotoxic response by developing novel human T lymphocyte clones that selectively kill tumor cells.

Cytolytic T lymphocyte lines and clones have been raised against CRC. The CTL specifically lyse autologous and allogeneic human lymphocyte antigen (HLA)-matched tumor, but not normal, cells and may be used to isolate the antigens or peptides recognized by the CTL. The antigens or peptides have potential as vaccines for HLA-matched CRC patients. Furthermore, the CTL may be used directly for adoptive immunotherapy of HLA-matched CRC patients.

Key Words: Therapeutic, cancer, immunotherapy, peptides antigen

Applications and Advantages: The CTL and the CTL-defined antigens or related peptides may be utilized for therapy and/or prevention of colorectal cancer.

Intellectual Property Status: A U.S. patent application has been filed.

Licensing Opportunity: Wistar is seeking sponsored research and/or licensees for this technology for cancer therapy.
