of Atherosclerosis

Description:
Infections with cytomegalovirus (CMV) or C. pneumoniae have
been associated with atherosclerotic lesions and the subsequent
development of coronary artery disease. Wistar scientists have demonstrated
in animal models that vaccines against these pathogens may help
prevent atherosclerosis in animals that have been previously infected
with CMV or C. pneumoniae.

use of vaccines for these agents.
Intellectual
Property Status: US Patent 6,291,437, "Methods and compositions
for retarding the development of atherosclerotic lesions" was
issued September 18, 2001. PCT/US97/14443 has been published. Additional
US patents and international patents in Europe, Canada, Japan, and
Australia are pending.
Licensing
