Human
Melanoma Cell Lines
Inventor:
Meenhard Herlyn
Tech ID:
HM-11RR
Description:
Wistar researchers have established a collection of cell lines from
melanoma patients with a wide range of disease severity. Cell lines
have been established from specimens that represent each of the
major steps in the progression of melanoma: (1) common acquired
nevus, (2) dysplastic nevus, (3) radial growth phase primary melanoma,
(4) vertical growth phase primary melanoma and (5) metastatic melanoma.
In some cases, this collection includes multiple cell lines from
the same individual at different stages in the disease progression.
(See The Wistar Melanoma (WM) Cell Lines in HUMAN CELL CULTURE,
Vol. I, 259-274, 1999)
Key Words:
Research tool, drug screening, cancer, tumor antigens
Applications
and Advantages: The Wistar melanoma cell lines
may be useful in identification of genetic, antigenic and other
changes that arise during the progression of melanoma. These cell
lines may also be useful to identify novel tumor antigens.
Licensing
Opportunity: These cell lines are
available for non-exclusive license for
research and/or product development.
