NIH Predoctoral fellowships at the Chemistry-Biology Interface (CBI) are available to students in the Graduate Group in Chemistry or one of the Graduate Groups in Biomedical Graduate Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Twenty six faculty members from the Wistar Institute and the University of Pennsylvania (the schools of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine) are participating in the program. The goal of the CBI training program is to provide students with the intellectual and technical skills required to solve important and complex biological problems that can be most effectively addressed by studies at the chemistry-biology interface and to create a group of graduating chemists and biologists who can effectively communicate and function successfully in multidisciplinary teams. The focus of the CBI training program is mechanistic chemistry of proteins, which is a theme that is of special interest to a significant population of faculty and students on campus, and provides an excellent model system for the application of chemical tools to solve important biological problems.
Inquiries about the program should be directed to the program director, Ronen Marmorstein, at marmor@wistar.org or the Training Program coordinator, Cheryl McFadden, at mcfadden@wistar.org.
