The President's Society
The President’s Society is comprised of donors who give $5,000 or more annually to The Wistar Institute as well as donors who have given cumulatively more than $50,000 over five years. Each spring, members of the society gather for a luncheon at which the president of the Institute honors a public figure who has not only confronted cancer but also served as an advocate for improvements in cancer education and research.
Past recipients of The President's Award include veteran ABC News correspondent Sam Donaldson, a melanoma survivor; General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, a prostate cancer survivor; and U.S. Senator Arlen Specter, a Hodgkin's lymphoma survivor. The inaugural President's Luncheon was held in 2004.
