Overview
Scientists have a number of different ways they can look at the problems of cancer and other diseases. Each offers its particular strengths and, when added to the others, builds toward a more complete understanding of the larger questions.
For this reason, researchers at The Wistar Institute have organized themselves into three distinct yet complementary programs. They are the programs in Gene Expression and Regulation, Immunology, and Molecular and Cellular Oncogenesis.
The value of harnessing these different perspectives in the effort to confront disease can be seen in the scientific returns. Wistar scientists are consistently among the leaders in their fields, defining the questions that must be asked and devising the tools needed to answer those questions.
Most importantly, the scientific accomplishments of Wistar researchers move us closer every day to discovering the causes and cures for major diseases, including cancer and AIDS.
