Research Programs

The three distinct yet complementary research programs at The Wistar Institute are the Gene Expression and Regulation Program, the Molecular and Cellular Oncogenesis Program, and the Immunology Program.

Gene Expression and Regulation

Aim: To explore cancer and other diseases at the level of individual genes and gene systems, including investigations of the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation.

Molecular and Cellular Oncogenesis

  • Cancer Biology Division

Aim: To understanding how specific molecular events and cellular interactions manifest themselves in cancer, supported by the tools of systems biology.

  • Systems Biology Division

Aim: To develop comprehencsive, global perspectives on cancer development and progression.

Immunology

Aim: To investigate immune-system responses to cancer and other diseases, with major efforts directed toward the development of vaccines and immunotherapies.
