The Wistar Institute & University of Bologna Ph.D. Exchange Program in Cell and Molecular Biology

In 2020, Wistar launched a collaboration with the University of Bologna (Unibo) to bring graduate students from Unibo’s Cell and Molecular Biology program each year to Wistar for the entire duration of their three-year training.

While conducting research and working on a thesis project in a Wistar lab, each student is jointly supervised by the Wistar principal investigator who serves as an external mentor and a Unibo faculty who serves as a thesis supervisor.

The program promotes scientific and intellectual exchange and collaboration between investigators in Italy and the United States.

About Unibo

Unibo, the oldest university in the western world, is one of the largest institutions of undergraduate and graduate education in Italy and ranks within the world’s top 100 institutions for life sciences and medicine according to the QS World University Ranking. With more than 87,000 students, Unibo encompasses five campuses, five schools and 10 research and training centers.
